The Basic French Language course is divided in two levels: beginner (Level A1) and elementary (Level A2). Both the levels will help create the foundation in the learners of the French language. After basic user of French language comes the independent user. This is also divided into two levels; level B1 for Intermediate users and Level B2 for Upper Intermediate users. Course Description:
After completion of this course (Level A1) the learners will be able to perform the primary communication with other French speaker. The focus of this course is to create a foundation of the four basic skills of French language for the purpose of writing, reading, speaking and listening.
Specific Objective:
After completing the course students will be able to:
- understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment).
- communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
- describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need.
Syllabus:
The syllabus contains a variety of content of what a French language learner is expected to know at the A1 (beginner) level. After completing the A1 level course, a learner should be able to accomplish the following:
- Greet people
- Talk about self
- Talk about where he/she lives
- Talk about family members
- Talk about likes and dislikes
- Engage in a simple buy-and-sell situation
- Ask about the day, the time and the date
- Accept and refuse
- Read simple notices, posters and catalogues
- Fill in a simple form
- Write a simple postcard
